About Us
Aquarius is a New Age, Metaphysical bricks and mortar store in Kansas City. It was founded by the owner, Barbara Criswell, in April, 1988, and recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary www.aquariusbooks.com. She sees the shop as a means to serve those interested in self-actualization, spirituality and alternative healing.
People of many faiths--New Age, Pagan, Hindu, Buddhist, Tibetan, Native American, Goddess and Christian--find books, jewelry, and tools and supplies for spiritual practice at Aquarius. Products sold include aromatherapy and magickal oils and candles, magical herbs, meditation and stress relief books, tapes and DVD's, crystals and stones, clothing and tarot decks.
"Magical Cookbook for the Kitchen Witch" came about as the staff of Aquarius was looking for a gift for customers to celebrate the upcoming twentieth anniversary. The staff enjoys pot luck celebrations and suggested sharing some favorite recipes. The idea mushroomed into discussions of the magic of food, how we choose food, and putting intent into food preparation and the idea soon outgrew the planned few recipe cards and became a complete and unusual cookbook. This is our way of sharing some favorite recipes and discussion of how to use food to bring changes into your life.

Meet our Staff
Barbara Criswell is the owner of Aquarius. She is an initiated Mayan Priestess and studies with shaman priests in Mexico and Guatemala, using her training to teach classes and hold authentic Mayan rituals.
Chelle Darnall has been with Aquarius for over 6 years and is the manager. Her interests are in green witchcraft, specifically with magical cooking, stones, candles and herbs.
John Lenz, the assistant manager, has been with Aquarius for almost 5 years. He is an artist/sculptor and practices his own form of eclectic shamanism.
